What are the steps to get started with Renewal?1. Fill in the contact form on the website with a brief answer to what you are looking for 2. Look for the email from renewalchristiancounselling@gmail.com responding to your query and, if appropriate, inviting you to book a free Initial Phone Call. 3. Book the free Initial Phone Call by registering with the online booking portal linked in that email. The online portal will ask you to confirm your email when you register. Then you can choose a date and time that suit you for your free Initial Phone Call. 4. I will call you by phone at your appointment time for the free Initial Phone Call. You can ask any questions you have. I'll have some questions for you too. 5. After the call, I'll give you a chance to think about working together. I'll send you an email and you can respond to let me know if you'd like to get started or not. 6. We book your first session and I send over some online forms for you to complete before our first session. Then we get started!

Why can't I get into the online portal?If you've been invited to book a free Initial Phone Call or are a regular client accessing the online portal for the first time, you will need to confirm your email address before logging in. Check your spam folder in case the email is there. Once you've done that, you should be able to log in with just your email and the password you've set.

Where do we meet face-to-face?Face-to-face sessions are held in a safe, private room on a leafy road on Dobbin Hill in Greystones, Sheffield (S11 7JB). On-street parking is available and it is easily accessible by public transport links from Eccelsall Road. A room with step-free access is available upon request.

Can we meet if I live overseas (non-UK)?I am ​able to meet clients online who live in many non-UK countries with a few exceptions. If you are not UK based, but are interested in working together, please reach out and we can see if we'd be a good fit. As a note, all sessions are in English.

How often will we meet for sessions?Depending on circumstances, we start by meeting weekly or fortnightly. Spacing sessions out more than fortnightly often leads to a very slow progression in therapy and is not generally recommended.​

​I work shifts. Can we meet based on my work schedule?Some clients prefer to book sessions based on when their shifts are. If this is a preference, we can discuss you booking your sessions online via the booking portal rather than having a regular set time.

How long are sessions?Counselling & psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes long. EMDR reprocessing sessions can be booked as double sessions (1hr and 40min). You'll be told when these sessions are available for you as not all EMDR sessions qualify for this.

What are the Terms & Conditions for scheduled sessions?All appointments are booked in agreement with the terms and conditions below. CONFIDENTIAILTY What you say to your counsellor will remain confidential under most circumstances. Your counsellor will need to break confidentiality under the following circumstances: Discussing cases in clinical supervision. If you share information regarding a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, including (but not limited to) the abuse or neglect of children or vulnerable adults, terrorism, drug or human trafficking, illegal activities, suicide, or safeguarding issues. BOUNDARIES Counselling sessions take place at a pre-scheduled date and time. If you arrive late: Your counsellor will wait for you for 20min after which time the session will be seen as missed and charged at the usual rate. The time you have will be shorter because the session will end at the normal time. If you are unable to attend: Please contact your counsellor via email or phone as soon as possible. Cancellations that occur within 48hrs of the scheduled session will be charged the regular fee. If you are regularly cancelling sessions: Your counsellor will discuss with you whether this is the best time for you to be in counselling and work with you to find an appropriate solution. If you miss a session without contacting your counsellor: She will try to contact you to discuss the reasons for you not attending. If you miss 2+ sessions without contacting your counsellor: She reserves the right to end the counselling agreement and will communicate this to you. If you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of your session: your counsellor will not see you for that session. If your counsellor is unable to attend the session: she will contact you as soon as possible. Your counsellor will also let you know in advance of any holiday time or scheduled breaks which may impact your care.

How much do sessions cost?Counselling and Psychotherapy sessions are charged at a rate of £80 per session.

​Do you offer discounted rates?Concession rates of £45 are available for 6 sessions for students and those on low income.

How do I pay?You will receive a link to an invoice via email before each session with information on how to pay. UK payments are done by bank transfer to the account listed on your invoice. International payments are made by Paypal. A link to this option will be included in your invoice if you are not in the UK.

​​What can I do if I can't afford private counselling?If cost is prohibitive, try contacting your employer or church. Sometimes, organizations like these can offer full or partial reimbursement for private counselling and psychotherapy for their employees/members.

​​What do your fees cover?Fees cover the cost of running the practice such as professional indemnity insurance, BACP and ACC accredited register fees, ICO registration, EMDR UK fees, room rental, internet costs, ongoing training, salary, and regular clinical supervision.
